For instance, at the First National Conference, one regional committee put forward a strong anti-abortion position, arguing that abortion was a key moral problem; but this was not engaged with at all by the conference, perhaps because of the lack of a clear position on the issue, or because of a desire to avoid potentially divisive debates within the movement.
