TED LEGGETT is a senior researcher in the Crime and Justice Programme at the Institute for Security Studies. After employment in police work, prosecution, and social work in the United States, he began crime research in the School of Development Studies at the University of Natal. He is the author of the recent book 'Rainbow Vice: The markets for drugs and sex in the new South Africa'.
ANTOINETTE LOUW is head of the Crime and Justice Programme at the Institute for Security Studies. Before joining the ISS as a senior researcher in 1997, she was involved in crime research at the School of Development Studies at the University of Natal, where she founded the journal 'Crime and Conflict'.
DR CHARLES D H PARRY is the Director of the Medical Research Council's Alcohol & Drug Abuse Research Group. He is the founder and director of the South African Community Epidemiology Network on Drug Use, and a member of WHO's Strategy Advisory Committee on alcohol. He is an executive committee member of South Africa's Central Drug Authority.
ANDREAS PLÜDDEMANN has been a scientist in the Medical Research Council of South Africa's Alcohol & Drug Abuse Research Group since 1998. He is currently co-ordinating the South African Community Epidemiology Network on Drug Use, and is also working on the establishment of a SADC regional epidemiology network on drug use.
PATRICK BURTON is a partner at DRA Development, and director of the Johannesburg office. He has been seconded to both the National Department of Communications and the Department of Provincial and Local Government. He has worked extensively in the evaluation of donor-funded projects.
